Combat training is a life and death issue. The more an individual is exposed to violence the more sensitive they are to this fact. Unfortunately, there is a disconnect between training and reality that endangers practitioners and cost innocent lives, a problem that is prevalent in both the military, law enforcement and the public. So the question is why do we do the things we do and what standards should guide our training?
I was thinking about this post that Ian wrote a while back as I was packing up the truck this morning to make my 9th trip to train with Ian in less than 3 months. Â Thats a lot of miles, a lot of fuel, a lot of time, but it is worth it because Ian is the kind of instructor that all instructors need to be more like.
So, what is it that you should be looking for in an Instructor?
I took a few minutes to talk with Ian Kinder about what he thinks are the most important things to look for in self-defense instruction.
