Shield Plan B
First impressions from Bob Mayne of the Handgun World Podcast.
Recently, Bob Mayne of the Handgun World Podcast and I discussed the Plan B, an accessory for the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield.Bob was interested in the project and as someone that carries a Shield at times he was curious as to how the Plan B might improve the performance and the efficiency of the Shield.
I’m glad Bob was interested because I needed his help.In developing the Plan B, I needed folks that have a solid understanding of self-defense and defensive shooting to help me evaluate the product and make sure it is ready for prime time.I offered to send a pair of Plan B Prototypes to Bob so that he could help me understand the good and the bad of the Plan B.
What is the Plan B?
The Plan B for the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield is an accessory that improves the performance of the extended magazine for both the 9mm Shield and the .40 S&W Shield.
The Plan B was designed to improve performance in three ways:
The Plan B locks the sleeve and the base pad together so that the sleeve is always right were it needs to be when you reload.
The rear profile of the Plan B has been reduced to help the magazine to drop free when it is empty.
The Plan B base pad is oversized to help you handle malfunctions even if you only have one hand available.
It was great to have Bob take a look at the Plan B as he found that there were some benefits that we hadn’t anticipated.
