National Safety Month Gun Safety Campaign

Safety Solutions Academy is the name of my company and it shouldn't…

0144 – Layers of Defense

/
There is no one thing that we can do to guarantee our safety and security, however, if we successfully build a series of layers of defense, when one fails, the other layers can still offer protection.

0139 – Some Auto Travel Tips

/
As I mentioned yesterday I spent some time in the south with family this past weekend. We were able to find a cheap one way fare for my wife so I stayed down for a few extra days with my daughters to maximize our time. As I started to get ready to hit the road home, for the first time I can ever remember a 10-12 hour car trip was a bit daunting. The trip came off without a hitch mostly because of my prior preparations. Even if we would have experienced difficulties, we would have been able to handle them without too much in the way of worries. Are you ready for that spring break road trip?

0135 – FF Proper Car Seat Installation

/
We can spend a lot of time watching video on Youtube to help us prepare for a violent encounter and as you know I think this is very important. Every once in a while, however, we need to step back and look at the other risks we face in life. The fact is that many of these risks are much more likely to affect us.

0133 – A Different Take on Safety

/
Last night I went to the range to do a bit of training. This time instead of witnessing a safety violation, I was the safety violation, at least in the minds of the insurance company and the attorneys. I don't know why I was surprised, but I was asked (very nicely) to refrain from drawing from my holster. This is an incredibly common rule at ranges, and it bugs me.

0132 – Keep Your Finger Off The Trigger

/
I spent a lot of time at the range this weekend! Between courses and competition I got a lot of rounds down range and had a great weekend! I do have to say that I am amazed at some of the things I see when I go shooting. This weekend I witnessed TWO ND's! Thank goodness no one was hurt in either situation. I wasn't involved in either situation at all, I was just one of the lucky ones that didn't get shot.

0129 – Field Trip to the Parade

/
Since today is St. Patricks day and supposedly EVERYONE is Irish. We headed downtown for the parade. Us country folk don't automatically get eaten alive the minute we step into the concrete jungle as long as we take some precautions... Those precautions are our topic for today.

0128 – LE What Can Women Learn From This

/
I really appreciate the input that I get from my listeners. If you haven't found Sports Stole My Man you should check it out. Jen Posted up on my FB wall a link to this article Lululemon Robbery/Murder with the question: "What can women learn from this?" Great question, but I'm not surprised that's what good journalists do is ask good questions.

0127 – Safely Helping Out in a Time of Need

/
Yesterday we took some time to look at how we can learn from a devastating situation like what is taking place in Japan. Hopefully you found your way to TSP RI Attorney General gave some decent tips to follow if you want to donate to the efforts underway in Japan, and here is a rehash from a money related blog.

0118 – A Simple Food Safety Tip

/
I don't eat out much. Over the past week I have been in restaurants more often than usual and I was surprised at some of the things I saw. On three separate occasions I have watched individuals who were eating alone leave their table for extended periods of time with no one to supervise the food that they are about to consume.

0104 – Using Bogus Emails to Improve our Security

/
I get a deluge of emails from my listeners that are related to crime prevention. I read them all and I would guess that I use something from just about every email. I got this one yesterday and I wanted to share with you the tips that I took from the email. I have to say that I was glad that someone took the time to check the email out on Snopes.com to get the real story.
