0279 – What is a Professional Defensive Shooting Instructor?
Firearm sales are through the roof and many folks that are buying guns are doing so for defensive purposes. This coupled with the number of states that are making it easier to carry a firearm defensively leads to a boom in training and an increase in training companies. Any time an industry expands there can be some growing pains. Different folks become involved for different reasons, some good, some not so good. A new organization has begun to some together to try and provide some guidance to Professional Defensive Shooting Instructors and their customers on what should be expected in the industry. The organization, the Association of Defensive Shooting Instructors, developed the following code under the guidance of Rob Pincus, Grant Cunningham and Omari Broussard. Today I want to talk about the code and what it means to me.
0262 – An Interview with Rob Pincus of ICE Training et al
Rob Pincus has been a driving force in defensive shooting instruction for the past few years. His program Combat Focus Shooting is one of the most taught handgun systems around. Rob doesn't just focus on the shooting, He also closely examines combat and how what we do on the range will or will not apply to fighting, and is constantly examining instruction to find the most efficient way to deliver content to his varied audience. Whether you are an expert or a novice, a student or a teacher, Rob is someone you might want to pay attention to.
0249 – Executive Ice Scraper Follow Up
I would love to tell you that I ALWAYS have my pistol with me. I do when I can, but like most people, there are times when I cannot have my guns. This week I did some traveling and just like most folks I wasn't allowed to carry my handgun onto the plane. That doesn't mean that I didn't have any tools that I could fight with if I needed to. That is where my Executive Ice Scraper comes into play.
0238 – Using your Smart Phone to Lead a Safer Life
Three years ago I would not have been able to imagine a world without cell phones. More than any other thing invented in recent times they have made our lives more efficient. The ability to communicate on a whim with virtually anyone allows our lives to be more flexible and spontaneous. This past holiday I chuckled when my dad busted out his circa 2004 flip phone. The reason I laughed is because it isn't about the phone any more. They are all in one do it all gadgets that have become essential in our lives. Yes, we could survive without smartphones, but for now we don't need to, so why not use them to help us when the chips are down!

Over the past month, as the weather has gotten colder the Executive Ice Scraper has made its way into may bag of tricks. It will come in handy for its intended purpose as the cold weather rolls in here in NE Ohio. When the weather warms up, due to travel, or change in season, I'm guessing the tool will stay right in the bag. Ready to get moved into primary position when I don't have a choice and waiting to serve as a deep backup when needed.
0163 – Enter ICE In Your Phone
In an emergency situation communication is key. There are however situations where we may depend on others to do the communicating for us. One of those times is if we are injured or incapacitated in some way and are unable to communicate ourselves. In that situation many people would love to help out, if they only knew how. That is where ICE comes in!

Impact weapons are force multipliers. The increase the effectiveness of our strikes by increasing the amount of force we are able to apply. They do this by being hard and or reducing the surface area and or, increasing the speed that we can strike with. Today we will talk about how impact weapons work and what it is that I look for in an impact weapon.
