0320 – An Interview with Alessandro Padovani of Safer Faster Defense

/
Most folks that I know and spend time with are interested in self-defense to some level. As a result these people carry gear that they believe will help to keep themselves safer. Almost without exception a knife is part of that gear. Knives are handy tools both from a utility standpoint and in terms of self-defense. Yet most people have spent little to no time training to use a knife as a defensive weapon. Today at Ohio Krav Maga in Hilliard a group of peple worked to remedy that situation by training with Alessandro Padovani of Safe Faster Defense. We asked Ale to take a few minutes to sit down with us and talk about preparing to carry a knife as a defensive tool.

0303 – FF Surprising 1911 Fail

/
Those of you that have been around for a while know that my shooting is originally founded in the competitive arena. I cut my teeth with a 1911. I must say that I still have a soft spot in my heart for the platform. I'm actually surprised that I don't hate the guns. If I was a rational man, I probably would.

0298 – AAR ICE Training’s Extreme Close Quarters Tactics Course Day 2 and the Skill Development Cycle

/
There are very few courses out there that effectively teach, develop and then evaluate skills. When we start dealing with the challenging world of Extreme Close Quarters Tactics field gets narrowed even further. Rob Picus has spent the past decade developing and packaging his Extreme Close Quarters Tactics Course to not only teach efficient techniques but also to teach them in an efficient manner.

0296 – Why I am investing in learning techniques for fighting in the Extreme Close Quarters Tactics Course

/
In general we can assume that violence is going to take place in close proximity between victim and perpetrator. This simple fact provides a complex situation for us to deal with when it comes to dealing with violence. Today we will take a look at why there isn't more training in this niche. I found some and we will talk about why I am jumping at the opportunity to get in on it.

0262 – An Interview with Rob Pincus of ICE Training et al

/
Rob Pincus has been a driving force in defensive shooting instruction for the past few years. His program Combat Focus Shooting is one of the most taught handgun systems around. Rob doesn't just focus on the shooting, He also closely examines combat and how what we do on the range will or will not apply to fighting, and is constantly examining instruction to find the most efficient way to deliver content to his varied audience. Whether you are an expert or a novice, a student or a teacher, Rob is someone you might want to pay attention to.

0259 – An Interview with Author and Revolver Expert Grant Cunningham

/
My interview with Grant Cunningham proves my point well that SHOT Show is an opportunity to gather knowledge as much as it is an opportunity to drool over new gear. Grant does a wonderful job of concisely sizing up some of the issues that folks are confronted with when they start to look at revolvers and how they fit into modern combatives.

0125 – FF LA Contest and Hotel Robbery Shooting

/
Man, what a weekend! We got hit with a pretty decent storm Thursday night through Friday which creates a load of extra work for me and gets me behind in my game. Add to that the fact that I had family come in to town for a family birthday and Friday's Podcast just had to wait! Now that we have a show up, check out the great performance of a hotel clerk in this shootout. There are some things we will talk about that could have gone better as well!
