0320 - An Interview with Alessandro Padovani of Safer Faster Defense

/
Most folks that I know and spend time with are interested in self-defense to some level. As a result these people carry gear that they believe will help to keep themselves safer. Almost without exception a knife is part of that gear. Knives are handy tools both from a utility standpoint and in terms of self-defense. Yet most people have spent little to no time training to use a knife as a defensive weapon. Today at Ohio Krav Maga in Hilliard a group of peple worked to remedy that situation by training with Alessandro Padovani of Safe Faster Defense. We asked Ale to take a few minutes to sit down with us and talk about preparing to carry a knife as a defensive tool.

0316 - An Interview with Personal Defense Network's Jim Kopp at NASGW

/
The internet is an outstanding source of information. With a simple search we can find detailed information on just about any topic. We do have to be careful of how we choose our sources, however. It is pretty easy to find ourselves getting the wrong information if we don't take the time to vet what it is that we are reading. One of the ways to make sure that you are getting quality information is to seek out trusted, quality sources. The Personal Defense Network is one of those sources. Today we talk with Jim Kopp of PDN about information on the web, training, discounts and PDN.

0301 - Having the Guts to Cut the Cord

Life is full of struggles! Some are physical, some are intellectual, some are financial, some are emotional. The list of challenges we face goes on and on and what amazes me is how often we get in the way of solving our own problems. Right now I am realizing that I am in the midst of making some ridiculously painful decisions regarding my pickup truck. The process that I am going through reminds me of something that I often see my students struggle with in class. So, today we are going to talk about my 1995 Dodge and training.

0295 - The Myth of the Do-All Self-Defense Handgun

/
I don't know about you, but I really enjoy firearms. For the past 21 years, I'm guessing there hasn't been a single day that has gone by that I haven't at least though about guns. Almost every day I have physical interaction with my defensive firearms, and as you know, I spend a lot of time training with, learning about and talking about my guns.

0285 - Three Important Lessons to Take From Sanford, FL

/
We don't know all the details regarding the shooting of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman in Sanford, Florida, and I don't expect that we ever will. At the same time, however, there are some lessons that can be taken from this situation that are based on the facts that are clear to us. It would be wrong to not take some time to look for the lessons in this situation and how we can apply these lessons to our own life to make sure that we don't find ourselves in a quagmire like we see being played out in the media.

0280 - I.C.E. Training Defensive Firearms Coach Instructor Development Course

/
I have worked hard to extend my professionalism in the area of continuing education as a defensive firearms instructor, but for the most part I have been relegated to nugget hunting. Spending hours and hours in courses to find that one piece of information that made it "worth my while." As time has progressed, I have found fewer and fewer nuggets and I have a harder time spending energy away from my family and my business squandering resources for little benefit. the I.C.E. Defensive Firearms Coach IDC wasn't that way.

0261 - An Interview with Ray Kohout Designer of the Heizer Defense Double Tap

/
Some folks have dubbed the Double Tap a fancy derringer. I think this is a pretty narrow view. Speaking of narrow, .58" in width. The Double Tap is aimed at the professionals and those that are serious about self-defense. Its size, design, materials and caliber all speak to its purpose as a fighting tool. Its innovative design, and serious price tag distinguish it from other small guns only time will tell if consumers are able to do the same.
