0210 – FF Canton CCW Debacle

/
I have a hard time not covering this video of an LEO interacting with a ccw holder in Canton, Ohio. The overwhelming sentiment is that the cop was way out of line. what I want folks to remember is that for every one LEO that behaves in this manner there are thousands if not tens of thousands of officers that are outstanding in their job. Don't let one bad apple spoil the bushel.

0149 – Fine Tuning Your Carry System

/
Those of us that carry our guns need to be constantly vigilant to make sure our system of carry is working efficiently for us. We must make sure that we are effectively concealing, able to quickly draw our handgun, and have a system that is convenient and comfortable enough to wear every day. The best way to achieve these goals is to constantly look for ways that we can refine our carry system and make it better.

0147 – Range Log

/
We spend a lot of time talking about how it is that we can extend our resources. Ammo is a pretty precious resource these days and anything we can do to increase the training effectiveness of rounds we send down range can help to improve our training buck. With that end in mind I have started to play with a website to track my training with live ammo.

0142 – Gearing Up For Summer Carry

/
Back in October or November which seems like forever ago I discussed preparing for winter carry and the issues that tend to present themselves when we add additional layers of clothing. Today we head in the opposite direction. As I mentioned yesterday I jumped on an airplane to head to Florida to visit family over the weekend. The warm weather was an excellent reminder of the issues that pop up when we molt from our winter wear into short shorts and tube tops.

0128 – LE What Can Women Learn From This

/
I really appreciate the input that I get from my listeners. If you haven't found Sports Stole My Man you should check it out. Jen Posted up on my FB wall a link to this article Lululemon Robbery/Murder with the question: "What can women learn from this?" Great question, but I'm not surprised that's what good journalists do is ask good questions.

0125 – FF LA Contest and Hotel Robbery Shooting

/
Man, what a weekend! We got hit with a pretty decent storm Thursday night through Friday which creates a load of extra work for me and gets me behind in my game. Add to that the fact that I had family come in to town for a family birthday and Friday's Podcast just had to wait! Now that we have a show up, check out the great performance of a hotel clerk in this shootout. There are some things we will talk about that could have gone better as well!

0123 – Carry What You Train With, or…

/
Each of us has our favorites in life. Favorite food, favorite car, favorite movie. The list goes on. What makes something our favorite is probably different from person to person but if we were to try and generalize about favorites we might assume that favorites are things that we have a positive history with, things that make us feel comfortable, things we can count on. Favorites aren't limited to the comforts of life. Let's face it, we ALL have a favorite handgun! The question that I pose to you is, if you have a favorite why isn't your sweetheart stuffed in your waist band right now?

0122 – Carry Weapon Condition

/
One of the things I enjoy most about teaching is the opportunities it provides to be reminded of my humble beginnings. In the past 12 years or so that I have become increasingly interested in self-defense and concealed weapons I have had the opportunity to gain a tremendous amount of knowledge. Working with students who are where I once was is an excellent reminder of where it is that I came from. That being said, I don't ever remember being in a place where I didn't carry a gun with a round in the chamber. I am always surprised as to how often I read on the www how people are unsure as to whether they should carry their gun with a round in the tube.

0098 – The Wilderness Tactical Instructor Belt

/
We know that when we carry a handgun concealed everything has to work together to successfully carry and conceal our handgun on a daily basis and be able to deploy that handgun when that lethal threat presents itself. The first item most people begin to think about when it comes to CCW is the gun and I think that this is a mistake. There are many things to consider that can have a profound effect on the success or failure of a CCW system. One item that I think of as the foundation of a concealed carry system is the belt.

0094 – Open Carry: Great Law, Bad Practice

/
Three bills have been proposed in Tallahassee, Florida that would extend the rights of gun owners in the state of Florida. One deals with the medical profession and record keeping on guns, another a prohibition on preemption of FL State law, and the third and most interesting to me is an open carry provision. I pretty much laid it all out in the title. I think it is important and beneficial to have an open carry law and as a general rule I think that open carry is a bad practice. Today I'll explain.
