XXXX –
Thanks for your question on the
MagFIX. I’m currently on vacation with the family and am only checking in with email occasionally so I apologize that my response is a few days after your initial email.
Durability –
We designed the MagFIX with a polymer/fiberglass resin that is the same composition as the original design from Smith & Wesson. The design itself was professionally created and the sheer strength in excess of 800 pounds. More importantly than the design is the fact that we have had zero failures of the part in testing or real world use. Not a single MagFIX has broken in any way.
Aesthetics –
I think the
MagFIX is a great looking product and matches the gun well. We carefully worked to get the lines, sheen, and texture of the MagFIX as close to the factory design as possible and the product looks good on the mag and in the gun. The only area where the MagFIX doesn’t match the Shield as well as the factory part is at the rear of the grip. We intentionally abbreviated this area of the MagFIX to increase the reliability of the magazine dropping free when empty.
Reliability –
For most shooters the MagFIX is significantly more reliable than the factory part. It has no effect on the feeding or ejection of rounds, however, the MagFIX allows the magazine to perform as it should on insertion and ejection. The MagFIX locks the sleeve and base pad together so that the magazine is ready for insertion regardless of how it is carried. The sleeve is not going to slip up on the body of the magazine. The MagFIX improves the ejection of the empty mag. Most shooters trap the empty magazine in the gun with the heel of their hand. Because we intentionally abbreviated the back of the MagFIX it easily slides past most shooters hands and drops free. We also added gripping steps to the side of the MagFIX to provide an improved gripping surface to help deal with stripping a stuck mag which could be caused by a double feed.
I am about the most biased person that you could talk to about the MagFIX as it has been a 6 year long passion project. At the same time, the track record of the
MagFIX speaks for itself. Of all the MagFIX’s that I’ve sold, I have had a single return. One. I would be very surprised if you were the second, but if that happens to be the case, I will be happy to provide you with a full refund of the price of the product.
I brought a bunch of
MagFIX‘s along on vacation and have been shipping orders while traveling, so if you would like to place an order, I will be able to fill the order and have it shipped within 24 hours.
Please let me know if you have any more questions and I will be happy to help you out!
Thanks,
Paul
