4.4 Proper Staging of Your Defensive Handgun
Many people are familiar with the proper storage of guns as it is taught in many basic firearms courses.
Staging guns is a different story.
Very few people have thought through the manner in which they can safely stage a gun for defensive use.
We stage defensive handguns so that they are relatively inaccessible to unauthorized users yet at the same time they are relatively easily accessible to those that may need to use the gun for defensive purposes.
When we stage a defensive handgun we typically use a quick access safe so that the gun is secure but is still accessible should you need to access your gun.
You can learn more about some of my favorite quick access safes by simply following this link.
In this lesson we not only look at why we stage defensive handguns in quick access safes, but we also consider the condition that the handgun should be staged in. Most people don’t think about all of the potential consequences of a fully loaded gun being staged for home defense and how the potentially serious consequences can be mitigated with relative ease.
These are some of the topics that we will address in this lesson.
