2.3 Minimize Administrative Gun Handling

You must first complete 2.2 Safety as a Concept before viewing this Lesson

I like guns. I like to shoot them, I carry one every day. I enjoy just about every aspect of firearms (but I do get tired of cleaning them!)

As much as I enjoy guns, I work very hard to minimize administrative gun handling. The more I handle my gun when I’m not actually shooting it, the more likely I am to have an accident with my gun.

Administrative gun handling can’t be eliminated completely, and I’m not advocating that it should be eliminated. Let’s just use some common sense, there is a time and a place where it is reasonable to handle your firearms administratively and there are places where it just doesn’t make sense.

In this lesson we will define what administrative gun handling is and how you can determine whether your current situation is the right place to handle your task. We will also talk about some strategies to use if you don’t have a safe place to handle administrative tasks.
