0102 - Got a Blow Out Kit Yet?

/
I am a huge fan of First Aid Gear. When people ask me why I carry a gun I explain to them that because despite the efficiency of the 911 system and the professionalism of our law enforcement officers, a police response is most likely 3 or minutes away if I am involved in a violent encounter. That is assuming I can get to my phone to call immediately. Again as efficient as that is, it is probably about 2 minutes 50 seconds too late. In that 3 minutes I have the ability to save my own life, or the lives of others. Now this answer is a very well thought out logical answer based on why any firefighter or paramedic would tell you to get trained in first aid. There is a gap in time between when you call for help and when help actually arrives and in that time if you are trained in first aid you can give life saving aid.

0101 - SDFAQ Selecting the Correct Gun for the Job

/
There is no topic more heavily debated across gun shop counters, at shooting ranges, during training courses and of course on the web that what is the perfect gun for _________? My favorite part of this debate is that people actually think there is a universal answer. Today we will take a look at what criteria we should use to help us select the proper firearm for the job.

This is the CCTV footage of the shooting in the Detroit PD's 6th Precinct house. There are some great lessons that these officers teach us in this video.

0098 - The Wilderness Tactical Instructor Belt

/
We know that when we carry a handgun concealed everything has to work together to successfully carry and conceal our handgun on a daily basis and be able to deploy that handgun when that lethal threat presents itself. The first item most people begin to think about when it comes to CCW is the gun and I think that this is a mistake. There are many things to consider that can have a profound effect on the success or failure of a CCW system. One item that I think of as the foundation of a concealed carry system is the belt.

0097 - Preparing for Civil Unrest

/
As far as the threats we face in society one of the most dangerous and chaotic that I see is the threat of civil unrest. The events taking place in Egypt may seem like they are half a world away, but the reality is much more close to home.

0096 - Tactical Boot Lacing

This weekend at the show, Jamie Onion from Western Reserve Tactical was busting my chops about the podcast. Jamie is a regular listener, and we were talking about how fascinated and enamored he is with the quality content when he listens to my show. He did however give me fair warning, that he would be forever done with The Safety Solutions Academy Podcast when I started to cover topics like Tactical Boot Lacing. Well...

0095 - FF Oakland Bus Fight (violent content)

Oakland Bus Fight Video I'm not a lawyer so don't take any of today's odcast as legal advice. It is simply my opinion. If you have specific legal questions you need to consult an attorney. David Arnold is an atorney, you will find him at The Warrior Summit.

0094 - Open Carry: Great Law, Bad Practice

/
Three bills have been proposed in Tallahassee, Florida that would extend the rights of gun owners in the state of Florida. One deals with the medical profession and record keeping on guns, another a prohibition on preemption of FL State law, and the third and most interesting to me is an open carry provision. I pretty much laid it all out in the title. I think it is important and beneficial to have an open carry law and as a general rule I think that open carry is a bad practice. Today I'll explain.
