0218 - 9-11 Series: How Can We Prevent Future Terror Attacks

/
No one wants to find themselves in the middle of some type of terrorist action. Once we are in the middle, we have lost some or all of the control that we have over ourselves and I have to tell you control is never something I want to surrender. So, it would make sense that just like any other safety issue we should turn our thoughts and efforts to awareness and prevention to help us avoid getting into a situation that we don't want to be in. In the past ten years our country has invested billions of dollars into the prevention of terrorism. Some of that money is well spent, but in general, I think the price tag could have been a lot lower if everyone was willing to put in the sweat equity to stop terrorism.

0215 - FF Walmart Shooting Sparks Controversy

/
I'm not a lawyer. I don't even proetend to be one on the internet. I do however spend a good bit of time working to understand violence and all of the possible implications it carries with it. There is no doubt that violence carries with it some very serious implications. We must find balance between acting quickly and aggressively enough to preserve our life while showing enough restraint to keep our finances and freedom secure.

0205 - FF Flipped The Switch

/
Recently I was chatting with Bryan at a birthday party talking about how much I like to use videos available on youtube to help my students and listeners understand violence. Well, wouldn't you know it, Bryan had a gem. He fired off a link to me in an email, and here we are with episode 205.

0199 - We May Never Know Our Success

/
One of the things that I love about what I do is the fact that the insights seem to be a two way street. The feedback I get from our listeners lets me know that people value what it is that I have to say and that is humbling. It is important to know that I value what it is that you as listeners share with me. Your comments are thoughtful and intelligent and often help me to have a better understanding of what it is that I am trying to communicate to our audience. Today I will give you two examples from this week alone of how YOU are helping to 1. Broaden my understanding of the topics we deal with and 2. Are helping to make The SSA Podcast a success. Keep up the good work!

0196 - Interview with The Blue Sheepdog

/
I had a chance to meet up with Richard of the Blue Sheepdog last week. We had a great lunch and did a quick podcast together. I hope you enjoy the show, and have a great day!

0191 - When to Call the Police

/
One very common and yet very difficult question that people ask me is when to call the police. It is so tough to answer because the circumstances are so different in virtually every encounter that you might wonder when to dial 911. So, today I throw some considerations at you to help you determine when is the right time to call for help.

0183 - What Does Dominate Mean?

/
We often find out that we are in a violent encounter after someone has hurt, or is trying to hurt us. That puts us behind the curve. I teach my students to DOMINATE the encounter. What does it really mean to dominate. Today we take a look at the word, how I use it, and the message I want my students to take from its use.

0182 - Take It Slow

/
The heat here in NEO is oppressive today. We basicly went from high sixties/low seventies to 93 degrees today. It reminded me of how difficult things can be if we don't take it slow. We don't have much control over the weather but there are lots of other things we can control. When it is under our control and we want to do it right, take it slow!

0180 - FF Captain Sully

/
Today's show is a long one for a long weekend, although I do expect to bring you a show on Monday. We are going to take a look at an awesome success story with life and death on the line and 155 lives in the balance. I hope you learn as much from listening as I have from preparing the show. Have a great weekend!

0174 - How's Your Training Going?

/
As a trainer and a teacher I have always placed learning pretty high on my list of things to do so it shouldn't be much of a surprise that I spend a good bit of my time learning. Today we will take a look at how you might organize your training and ways you can extend your resources to get that training in without breaking the bank.
