0220 – FF Enhancing Combative Pistolcraft Skills with Dave Spaulding
The weather was perfect, the guys were great and the course of fire was challenging. I got a chance to shoot it and shoot others shooting it. The latter was done with my Nikon of course. That's what I am going to share with you in today's Friday Film. Enjoy the pics.
0219 – 9-11 Series: What Can We Do When We Find Ourselves In the Middle of Terrorism
No matter who we are or where we live we run the risk of becoming a victim of terrorism. The prospect of lone wolf actions make the new breed of terrorism difficult to detect. Add to that the fact that terrorists are actively researching the accessibility to targets in urban, suburban and rural areas, we can deduce that anything can happen anywhere. Obviously, we don't want to spend our lives in fear, but at the same time I feel that we must recognize the risks we face and we need to prepare ourselves to handle the situations when they arise.
0218 – 9-11 Series: How Can We Prevent Future Terror Attacks
No one wants to find themselves in the middle of some type of terrorist action. Once we are in the middle, we have lost some or all of the control that we have over ourselves and I have to tell you control is never something I want to surrender. So, it would make sense that just like any other safety issue we should turn our thoughts and efforts to awareness and prevention to help us avoid getting into a situation that we don't want to be in. In the past ten years our country has invested billions of dollars into the prevention of terrorism. Some of that money is well spent, but in general, I think the price tag could have been a lot lower if everyone was willing to put in the sweat equity to stop terrorism.
0215 – FF Walmart Shooting Sparks Controversy
I'm not a lawyer. I don't even proetend to be one on the internet. I do however spend a good bit of time working to understand violence and all of the possible implications it carries with it. There is no doubt that violence carries with it some very serious implications. We must find balance between acting quickly and aggressively enough to preserve our life while showing enough restraint to keep our finances and freedom secure.
0211 – Measure Twice Cut Once
Measure twice, cut once. Clearly the axiom of a carpenter. I don't know where I first heard the expression, but for years I took it literally. I applied it only to when I was running a saw. As I look at the statement today, however, I can see how broadly it applies. Today we will take a look at when Measure twice, cut once applies to our safety, and when it doesn't.
0210 – FF Canton CCW Debacle
I have a hard time not covering this video of an LEO interacting with a ccw holder in Canton, Ohio. The overwhelming sentiment is that the cop was way out of line. what I want folks to remember is that for every one LEO that behaves in this manner there are thousands if not tens of thousands of officers that are outstanding in their job. Don't let one bad apple spoil the bushel.
0209 – Double Plug Your Ears In Dynamic Firearms Training
One is none and two is one. It is an old military axiom and it makes a lot of sense. It is an ideal that I put into play in so many facets of my life. This past weekend in a training session, a session where I brought 5 airsoft guns, for me, 3 airsoft masks, for me, 4 extra gallons of water, for me, two extra pistols, for me, I forgot to double plug, and I paid for it.
0208 – An Evaluation of Manual Safeties in Fighting Handguns
Facing a violent encounter and prevailing can be quite a daunting task. Violent attacks are often a surprise for the victim. We know and understand that violence is fast and chaotic. We know that no matter our physical strength, our size, our training, our weapons and proficiency with them that we can lose because of the above factors. Today we will take a look at one of the common questions that people have when they are shopping for a self-defense handgun. Manual safety, or not?
