0151 – Train in the Rain or whatever weather you are dealt

/
This past weekend, I spent a bunch of time recording podcasts and having general fun in the rain. I always do my best to make lemonade with the lemons life tries to deal me, and training in rotten weather is no different. Today we are going to take a look at the benefits that training in adverse conditions can give us.

0149 – Fine Tuning Your Carry System

/
Those of us that carry our guns need to be constantly vigilant to make sure our system of carry is working efficiently for us. We must make sure that we are effectively concealing, able to quickly draw our handgun, and have a system that is convenient and comfortable enough to wear every day. The best way to achieve these goals is to constantly look for ways that we can refine our carry system and make it better.

0148 – KISS

/
When we think about dominating a violent encounter we have to make sure that we approach things from a realistic standpoint. We must consider reality. We must consider the generations of success that we are programmed with from birth. We must consider SIMPLICITY. Today we talk about how how to keep it SIMPLE!

0147 – Range Log

/
We spend a lot of time talking about how it is that we can extend our resources. Ammo is a pretty precious resource these days and anything we can do to increase the training effectiveness of rounds we send down range can help to improve our training buck. With that end in mind I have started to play with a website to track my training with live ammo.

0146 – Hydration

/
Proper hydration can be a huge factor in the performance of athletes. The same is true for those of us that train for the unexpected or those that may be tossed into the fray unexpectedly. So lets look at hydration!

0144 – Layers of Defense

/
There is no one thing that we can do to guarantee our safety and security, however, if we successfully build a series of layers of defense, when one fails, the other layers can still offer protection.

0143 – Be a Hard Target

/
If you spend any time watching National Geographic type television, you undoubtedly see the classic scene where the predator gobbles up the unsuspecting prey. It truly is natural selection at work, and all predators are experts at spotting the easy targets.

0142 – Gearing Up For Summer Carry

/
Back in October or November which seems like forever ago I discussed preparing for winter carry and the issues that tend to present themselves when we add additional layers of clothing. Today we head in the opposite direction. As I mentioned yesterday I jumped on an airplane to head to Florida to visit family over the weekend. The warm weather was an excellent reminder of the issues that pop up when we molt from our winter wear into short shorts and tube tops.

0141 – Plan and Execute Go Together

/
From everyday occurrences to critical emergencies having a solid, well thought out plan and the practice to execute it smoothly can make life run more smoothly and even save lives. Take the time to plan and think about how you can guarantee proper execution of your plan!

0139 – Some Auto Travel Tips

/
As I mentioned yesterday I spent some time in the south with family this past weekend. We were able to find a cheap one way fare for my wife so I stayed down for a few extra days with my daughters to maximize our time. As I started to get ready to hit the road home, for the first time I can ever remember a 10-12 hour car trip was a bit daunting. The trip came off without a hitch mostly because of my prior preparations. Even if we would have experienced difficulties, we would have been able to handle them without too much in the way of worries. Are you ready for that spring break road trip?
