When it comes to the Massad Ayoob Group there is no doubt that the most popular course is the flagship MAG-40 course.
MAG-40
The MAG-40 is comprised of two 20 hour blocks. One block, the MAG-20 Live-Fire, takes place on the range. Students have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of handgun techniques at various distances. The live-fire portion of the course culminates in a police style qualification course where students test their skills and at the same time create a court discoverable document of their abilities with their defensive handgun.
The second portion of the MAG-40 is the classroom portion. The Armed Citizens’ Rules of Engagement covers 20 hours of experience in when to use lethal force and how to win the legal fight that may follow the use of deadly force in a self-defense scenario. The MAG-20 classroom is a vital section of instruction for anyone that counts on a firearm for personal protection as a private citizen, a law enforcement officer or armed professional.
The MAG 40 is a prerequisite for the MAG-80 which takes the skill learned to higher speed and greater distances.
MAG-20
Both the MAG-20 Live-Fire and the MAG-20 Armed Citizens’ Rules of Engagement can be taken as part of the MAG-40 or separately as individual 2 day blocks for those that have a difficult time blocking out 4 consecutive days of training.
MAG-30
The MAG-30 serves as a step between the MAG-40 and the MAG-80 and also helps the MAG-40 graduate to develop the skills needed to perform at a high level in a MAG-80 course by providing a large number of reps at the skills that are needed to shoot faster and more accurately at increased distances than are experienced in the MAG-40. I also firmly believe that the MAG-30 provides an outstanding opportunity for students who seem to be “stuck” in their shooting.
